This track focuses on the art and science of media for the church. The instructors are recognized experts in the areas of presentational technologies, video systems, and visual worship. This is a hands-on track; so, be sure to bring your laptop (we'll provide the trial software.)
Bootcamp
The Basics of projection Media:
We'll discuss the various approaches to projection media and discuss what it means to "communicate visually," and how that's different from simply putting text on a screen. We'll cover the concepts of metaphor and image in worship.
Finding and Creating Media 101:
In this workshop, we'll discuss the use of colors, fonts, "rule of thirds," etc for media creation. We'll also cover where to find images, videos, fonts, etc for worship.
Church Websites 101:
We'll discuss best practices for church websites; what needs to be on the website, and what shouldn't be. We'll cover such topics as web-safe fonts, optimizing pictures, embedded media, etc
Interactive Websites and Social Media:
Developing a web strategy that broadens your church's impact beyond your four walls
The tools of the trade:
What are the requirements for using media in worship - Software and Hardware? You will get an overview of the various kinds of projectors, screens, computers, cables, adapters, and software needed for visual arts.

Theology of Technology:
Why use media/technology in worship? What is worship really, and how does media (visual arts) fit into our historic understanding of worship? We'll help you develop a theology of technology that keeps the focus on bringing people into the presence of God and not on the awesomeness of your technology.
ProPresenter 4, 101:
This workshop will cover the basics of using ProPresenter Software for a full spectrum of visual elements in worship. This is a hands-on class, so, bring your computers and we will provide the demo software for each participant. It doesn't matter if you're a Mac or a PC, come join the fun.
Advanced Features of ProPresenter 4:
Get ready to say WOW! In this session, we'll cover some of the more advanced functionality of ProPresenter. We'll take a look at some advanced techniques, such as song automation and manipulating the properties of media (like speed and color). We'll also explore various software modules that make more advanced techniques like Imag and edge-blending possible for a fraction of the cost of hardware solutions. We'll also cover iPhone and iPad apps that allow remote control and/or monitoring functionality. (Some of the functionality discussed in this session is currently available only on the Mac platform.)
Video Recording and Live Video 101:
Whether you're just considering using live video and/or video recording your services, or looking to improve how you're doing these things, this class is for you. We'll cover equipment requirements and best practices for using live video and/or video recording services.
Video Editing, Webcasting, and Streaming:
This session will cover some basic techniques for capturing and editing video. We will cover both live video and on-demand video for distribution via disc and the web.
Getting the Worship Team on the Same Page:
We'll cover team dynamics and working together as a creative team. This is a combined session with Media and Lighting tracks.
Photography in Worship
We will explore the tools of iconic imagery, starting with the camera and ending with powerful digital image development using tools like Photoshop and Lightroom as well as cloud storage solutions like Pass. We will cover the basics of camera operation including aperture, shutter speed and depth of field as well as what you can…and can not do with your point and shoot camera.
Coloring Outside the Lines:
In this session, we'll talk big picture, really big picture. We'll discuss taking media onto larger screens, multiple screens, and even beyond the screens. We'll cover environmental projection software, hardware, and content.
The Intersection of Media and Lighting:
How to blend media and lighting into a unified whole.
Bringing it all together:
In the morning session, we'll provide a small set-list, and throughout the day you can work on designing visuals for those songs. In this last session, you will have the opportunity to be a visual worship leader as others practice what they've learned over the weekend.
